How to Make Your Holiday Centerpieces Unforgettable
Your centerpiece can help tell the story of your event. How do you want people to feel and think about your event? It can have the ability to capture most, if not all, five senses.
Let’s jump right in. In this blog, I discuss three ways to make your holiday centerpiece stand out and leave an impact on your guests:

Edible Centerpieces
Adorn your table with delicious and colorful items such as fruits, cookies, candies, or even the main course - a nice standing rib roast. It’s a great way to give your guests a little something to snack on before the main meal is served.
When I think about the design of a table, I like to keep in mind, color, texture, flavor, size, and height.
With the color, if you want something more vibrant and standalone. Spread out the colors and keep this in mind for the texture of your items as well. Flavor, you want it to be something fresh and decadent. Depending on what you are serving, you could add some edible gold. That’s always fun.
Make sure each piece can be eaten in either one or two bits.
Lastly, height. This can be accomplished by placing the items directly on the table or using platters or bowls with varying heights. When I host an event in my home, I like to do this as a great precursor of what is to come. Have fun with it.
Interactive Centerpieces
Start with a beautiful bowl (or box) surrounded by candles or lights to set a cozy ambiance. Then, ask your guests to write a message (like a wish, a memory, or a piece of advice), and place it in the bowl.
Later, share each response while having dessert.
When I host my annual Christmas brunch and dinner, I have a book that gets passed around to each guest to write a message, and at the end of the evening, when I am all snuggled up with a cup of hot apple cider and I read what each person has written. It’s so heartwarming to read each sentiment, and it’s a beautiful keepsake, especially when you think about those family and friends that have passed away.
Conversational Centerpieces
Here is where you can be the most creative. There are no limits. Be bold and unique. Consider adding layers to give depth and interest. Think of color, patterns, textures, shapes, and lighting when creating.
Centerpieces don’t always have to be at eye level.
All of these elements will help you to definitely get the conversation started and maybe even get a picture or two taken.
